Bridal Suite D

When we got married, both of us earned meagerly. We could not afford a honeymoon. However, a group of our common friends offered to decorate our studio apartment as a gift for our wedding. They did it so beautifully that we have not regretted not spending the initial days of our marriage in a luxury honeymoon suite even once.

This article lists some décor ideas for the room of a newly wedded couple, which would essentially make their initial wedded days worth remembering and cherishing.

Mirrored ceiling

I discussed this idea in my article titled, Home décor- Unique Ideas to Use Mirrors in the Home Décor. The popular conception is that having a mirrored ceiling is expensive. However, it won’t be expensive if one makes it a DIY project. The mirror tiles (easily available at the wall mart) are the easiest (and the cheapest) option to create a mirrored ceiling.

These mirror tiles are usually available in sets of 12 and in different styles. Choose ones blending with the rest of the décor.

Flowers and Fragrances

The room for the newlyweds is incomplete with the flowers and fragrances. It would be more thoughtful if you ask the favorite flowers of the bride and the groom and decorate the room with those flowers. However, make sure that the color of the floral arrangement does not clash with rest of the décor of the room.

The flowers that are chosen may or may not be fragrant. In the later case, arrange for fragrance separately. The fragrance too should be chosen with the consent of the bride and the groom. Our friends used the Bulgarian Rose scent that one of our German friends had bought from Bulgaria. The room smelled divine!

Caution: Special care and extra effort will be required if the bride or the groom are allergic/asthmatic. Ask about their allergens/asthma triggers in advance and avoid them at all costs (unless you do not want to spoil one of the most important phases of their lives.) Remember DO NOT take chance on any type of flowers or fragrance that you choose.

Lamps and Candles

Lighting is another important aspect of bridal room décor. Try to keep it soft and romantic. Do not rely on the overhead light fixtures. (They can make any room look like a dining room). The best illuminating objects for a bridal room are the lamps and the candles.

Caution: Do not use traditional wax candles. They look beautiful but they are not suitable for the bridal rooms because of the safety concerns. Use electric candles instead.

Personalized Decorating Items

The couple would go oomph over the décor if you add one or two custom made personalized decorating items. To get ideas on personalized decorating items, you might want to read an article that I wrote just a few days ago. Food and beverages

Of course, the newlyweds have meal and cake in the ceremony but the room should have something in case they were not able to eat properly. You can order a miniature version of their wedding cake for the room that they can enjoy in privacy. You can also keep the couples favorite beverages in the room. If the room does not have a refrigerator, even then a couple of things can be kept in the room. The easiest to find examples are cookies and chocolates. Some of the seasonal fruits too require more than a day or two without the refrigerator to go bad.

You might be wondering that what ‘food and beverages’ have to do with a décor article. If the food and beverages are nicely presented, they can not only just add to the décor but can also be the décor focal point.
